Saraab Ep-2 Review: Hooriya’s mental illness is mistaken as some supernatural influence
The HUM TV drama series Saraab deals with a very sensitive subject related to mental health. Hoping that the creators of the play sensibly approach such a sensitive topic and it seems that to review this drama I need a thorough investigation on this mental illness, schizophrenia, as it is a very sensitive topic to talk about but it is kind of a topic. that urgently needs to be addressed. Sonya Hussyn has beautifully played her role as Hooriya, a girl who lives in her own imaginary world that she has created in her head and her state of mind is often mistaken by her family for supernatural influence or magic.
Hooriya (Sonya Hussyn) in the middle of the night puts on makeup, lights her room with candles and begins to dance and smile, her sister Namal (Nazish Jahanghir) hears a voice from above, goes to her room and sees the scene through the window in which Hooriya dances exuberantly holding the candle with her complete makeover. Namal is so terrified to see her sister in such a state that she leads her mother to see it through the window and she also mistakes this mental state of her daughter for a supernatural influence. Instead of taking her to a psychiatrist, he's thinking of taking her to a couple. It is so common in our part of the world where people do not understand the importance of mental health and often mistake it for some magic or genius influence.
Warda's brother-in-law's passion for marrying Hooriya doesn't make any sense. He shares his desire to marry Hooriya with his offended mother and she thinks that it is Warda who has influenced her son with this idea of marrying his sister. Once again he insults his daughter-in-law and makes fun of her because her sister must have a bad luck like her so that he does not make her a daughter-in-law.
Asfand, on the other hand, is too restless, he eventually discusses with his parents his desire to marry Hooriya in which his parents have no problem, his father is ready to talk to Hooriya's father but his mother thinks that Hooriya's mother Hooriya will never allow this to happen and she is right. Hooriya's mother is a very strange character, too cold and without compassion. Although Asfand is her nephew, she does not like and strongly opposes the idea of Asfand and Hooriya's marriage when Hooriya's father talks about it with her wife.
Hooriya in her imaginary world is creating a deeper and stronger bond with her cousin Asfand than in reality. Asfand in his imaginary world is closer to her than in real life. Hooriya often shares with Asfand that he is sitting with her just now and also that he has promised that he will talk about her with his mother when in fact he has not discussed this matter with Hooriya. Asfand has sensed that there is something wrong with Hooriya, but she has no idea what she is going through. Can Asfand discover Hooriya's mental illness?
